Grafting: a versatile means to modify polymers Techniques, factors and applications
The modification of polymers has received much attention recently. Among the methods of modification of polymers, grafting is one of the promising methods. In principle, graft co-polymerization is an attractive method to impart a variety of functional groups to a polymer. Graft co-polymerization initiated by chemical treatment, photo-irradiation, high-energy radiation technique, etc. is documen...
متن کاملA versatile and highly efficient post-functionalization method for grafting organic molecules onto Anderson-type polyoxometalates.
A new azide functionalized Anderson polyoxometalate was synthesized, fully characterized and subsequently used as a building block for further POM post-functionalization with organic compounds through a copper catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction. Optimization of the reaction conditions led to an efficient, fast, convenient and versatile POM coupling method.
متن کاملA Versatile Star PEG Grafting Method for the Generation of Nonfouling and Nonthrombogenic Surfaces
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) grafting has a great potential to create nonfouling and nonthrombogenic surfaces, but present techniques lack versatility and stability. The present work aimed to develop a versatile PEG grafting method applicable to most biomaterial surfaces, by taking advantage of novel primary amine-rich plasma-polymerized coatings. Star-shaped PEG covalent binding was studied using...
متن کاملVersatile grafting approaches to star-shaped POSS-containing hybrid polymers using RAFT polymerization and click chemistry.
An alkyne-bearing polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) core was used to prepare POSS-containing polymer hybrids using 'grafting to' or 'grafting from' strategies in combination with reversible chain transfer and click chemistry.
